Fun times!

I’m now officially on holiday for a week!  Yay!

Wait, don’t get too excited.  It’s not like I’m getting a proper holiday.  I’m not going away anywhere, and I still have to work.  I would rather liken it to…a sabbatical.

My tutor said this morning as we were leaving the class: ‘Enjoy your holiday; take a well earned rest; you deserve it; you’ve all worked at a phenomenal pace’.

Are you high, woman? We’ve got 4 projects to hand in the week after we come back!  Not 4 pieces, but 4 projects i.e. several pieces for each project.

What’s a girl to do?

You know that feeling when you’re getting to the end of term, you’re up-to-date with all your work, there’s nothing more you can do, so you don’t see the point of being in class?  Well that’s kind of how I feel just now.  I’m ready to start all of my final pieces; the development stage is now over. The problem is I can’t really start my final pieces in class, as I need to work on them over the holiday, and I can’t really take them home with me mid-painting. Another variation on a theme

Here’s a piece that I’m working on for Painting To A Theme.  This time I’ve taken Edward Burne-Jones’ ‘The Soul Attains’ from his Pygmalion and the Image series.  I used exactly the same style as I did on my version of Portrait of Helene Vary.  However, in this image there are two figures instead of one.  This posed something of a challenge because of the style and colour scheme I’m using.

Remember, in the Helene Vary image the figure is abstracted in blue, with lots of variations of brown, red and cream tones in the background.  I thought this could prove jarring to the eyes if I painted two figures in blue with the same background.  So, I came up with something a little different.

Just two more weeks left on my projects

I can’t believe how quickly this term is moving.  It only seems like five minutes ago that I was sitting in class, nervous as hell about how I would cope with the course, the workload, and whether I’d measure up to everyone else in the class!

So far, I’m happy to say that I’ve coped pretty well.  For the first couple of weeks I really did wonder if I was going to be able to do it, but somehow I’m actually ahead of schedule.  How the hell that happened, I’ve no idea!  Continue reading Just two more weeks left on my projects

And I’m Back

Not a very long hiatus I know…thankfully.  I’m feeling much better today.  I had a sore head and very sicky feeling in my tummy all day yesterday.  I ended up going to bed at 8pm last night as I was feeling so rubbishy.  Anyway, all is right with the world once more.

Today I’ve been sorting out my gallery pages on this site.  It has been a bit of a headache for me, as none of the images were uploading using the gallery plugin.  Eventually, I uploaded everything via the FTP server and now I have PICTURES!  So check out my galleries under the College Art Projects’ pages.  Basically, it’s an amalgam of all the images I’ve done for college and that I’ve posted on my blog, except that they are more cohesive and in the one place!

Back to work now.  I’ve been a busy little worker bee these past few days.  I’ve got quite a bit of work done for all of my projects, and I have several images to show.  I won’t have space to put the all here today, so I think I’ll just drip feed them over the coming week. These images are from my ‘My Space’ project and are part of the development process. Continue reading And I’m Back
