I should be away home by now. I was supposed to leave yesterday, but everything was thrown into chaos due to freak weather! I went to bed on Tuesday with the rain pissing down almost horizontally due to severe gales. I got up in the morning and there were at about 8 inches of snow! You’ll have to excuse my French, but, holy fuck! It came from nowhere!
Overnight 10,000 homes were without power, ours included. Over 300 motorists had to be rescued from their vehicles. Sadly a young girl was killed in a bus that was travelling with a school party. The main route from Aberdeen to Inverness was closed just up the road from me. Roads were closed everywhere. In some places there was at least a foot of snow that had fallen. Here is one image taken from Central Scotland:

Bear in mind that this fell just over the space of about 6 hours. There was no snow before that. We have just got over a really bad winter, and the weather was apparently the worst in about 30 years. We thought that finally we were moving into good weather. I was going to college without a jacket. I was getting to put my washing out, then bam! Anyway, the weather forecasts advised people not to drive, and I certainly wasn’t risking our lives to travel 200 miles in that.
Someone caught this video yesterday, and it was deeper in some places:
My hubby’s mother was in hospital, and we were trying to get down to see her, but she came out of hospital last night. So we’ve put off going down until Monday. The funny thing is, today, the snow was almost entirely gone! The heavy rainfall last night got rid of most of it, and there are only small signs that it was ever here – beautiful blue skies today, but still very cold. Weird weather.
Oh, I’ve changed my webhost, so some may experience technical difficulties accessing my page until propagation is complete. It can take up to 72 hours. If you have any difficulties, please let me know, as I’m in constant touch with the hosting company until everything is sorted.

Oh my! It's time to be done with this. Your photo of the snow plow is very dramatic. That's how I feel when they go by while I'm trying to shovel my drive out. Stay Warm!
Loved the video of the snow- but sure am glad it ain't here! So sorry your trip got delayed- but I'm glad you're safe.
Thank you Pam. The snow looked beautiful but nipped my holiday plans in the bud. It has been postponed until I finish my course in 3 weeks time. At least I'm safe and the weather should be much improved.
Wow! Hi Heather, I hope your weather cleared up. Too MUCH excitement!
Hi Peggy! The weather is certainly much improved, although we are to get more gales with winds up to 60mph. I've postponed my holiday until I finish my course in 3 weeks time, but at least I'll be relaxed and my interviews will be done, so it's probably for the best!
