Ok, so I’ve been a bit grumpy for the past few days. I’ve been really irritable in class and at home. No-one has really been spared. I guess it’s understandable given the stress I’ve been under. Although, in class, I’m not the only one under stress, but I guess people react differently. Anyway, I handed in my analytical drawings. I was so frustrated with them, but I worked on the one piece today that was really bothering me, and I’m happy with it now.
Wouldn’t you agree that it’s much better than it looked yesterday? My tutor, Janice, really saved this piece for me. She added a bit of colour to the right side, improving it greatly, and I worked the rest of the it. I wouldn’t have thought to do this, but it worked out great!
I now only have to hand in my sculpture tomorrow. I will then have to finish my 3 compositional pieces, but we were told we can finish those on our week off, so things are looking much better now! Funny how one day things appear miserable, and the next day you wonder what all the fuss was about.

I like the darker red on the right side of the smaller shape, Heather. It gave this painting an incredible amount of depth. Your use of pink drawn dramatically off to the upper right from the top of the larger object suggests movement and caused both objects to appear more textured. There is also an incredible amount of light being suggested by how you have finished the background. I like it!
Thank you Leslie! I'm amazed by how the pink really sets off this painting, now that I've expanded it, especially given my dislike for pink! I'm glad I stuck with it, as it's one of my stronger pieces, even if it did cause me no end of heartache. Lol.
I like this painting a lot as well! Good job!! So glad things are more relaxed. Whew!! You're almost there.
Thanks Pam! I'm surprised that I like it, as I don't normally like pink but I think the deeper red sets it off well. I'm really looking forward to my week off, although I do have more work to do for college. Still, I'm looking forward to getting a lie-in or two!

Hi Heather, You've dramatically improved the composition of this piece! Well done! Hey, maybe the grumpies are a sign that you're solving an important problem and, once solved, you'll be much better for the experience. Or, maybe grumpies are just grumpies and they too will pass! Anyway, reading your trials reminds me of the hard work going to college is…Oh, and all colors are wonderful…just matters what they're next too! Enjoy!
Hi Peggy! Sorry for the delayed response, I haven't really managed to get much commenting done in the past few days. I was so exhausted yesterday, even though I did nothing! I think the stress of the past week had caught up with me. I'm feeling slightly rejuvenated now and hopefully less grumpy! Thank you so much for your comments. As for colour depending on what they're next to, I don't think I've ever seen baby/bubblegum pink and thought it was nice. It's just a colour I've never been able to stand. Weird that, huh? Although, perhaps I just haven't seen a good example of it!
Hi Heather, I agree with Leslie, you found the way to create much greater depth! Sounds like you had some real labor pains with this birthing of creativity, but often those are the ones that make our strongest work, don't you think? I hope you get a little rest mixed in with all the hard work during your week off – sounds like a pretty concentrated schedule. It's a good war up for you're in store for in college. I know I pulled many an all nighter working on projects!! It's exciting though – sending encouragement and support in your coming endeavors! xo Karin
Hi Karin, thank you for your kind words. I agree that the ones we struggle with are often our best works. My schedule has been crazy lately, but I have 10 more weeks and then my course will be complete! It will all be worth it, especially if I can get into uni! Thank you for your support! xxx
