I am continuing to draw poses from C4’s Life Class: Today’s Nude, and I think I’m starting to get the hang of this a bit more, or at least I’m starting to loosen up more. Either way, I’m really really enjoying this. I’ve now done the three 5-minute poses of the gentleman from one episode, and have done two poses from another episode. My aim is to try and get all the poses down from all of the episodes – of which there are five.
I know that some of the lines are too dark, but it’s quite difficult to get it right when you’re as limited with time, but I can see where my mistakes are. I will probably attempt to draw this again and again, until I’m more satisfied. I may even attempt a longer pose, to get more detail in.
Out of the whole show, this particular episode I’ve been working on has been my favourite, purely because of the model – Ken Fahy. It’s strange as I really love lean and lithe figures, but for some reason, drawing an older and more rotund figure has really captivated me. I would really love the opportunity to draw more of this model but unfortunately, the programme lasts only half an hour, with a different model each day. I must look the gentleman up and see if I can find more of him.
I think my next attempt will be of the dancer, Maria Muñoz, and I may even attempt to draw her using artist’s pens, as I’ve really enjoying drawing with a mechanical pencil. This will no doubt be much more challenging as the model is extremely lean but her poses are much more interesting than in the other remaining shows.
Now it is time to venture fourth and attack my daughter’s bedroom – she says in absolute dread.
